SWSC secures two awards in athletics and archery at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Awards

Sharjah Women’s Sports Club delivered a standout presence at the 2025 Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Awards, securing two prestigious honors: Best Women’s Team for its Athletics – Running squad, and Best Emerging Female Athlete for archer Muna Faisal Al Shara’, in recognition of achievements during the 2024–2025 season (11 September 2024 – 10 September 2025).

The awards were presented during the official ceremony held at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

Athletics Team: A Season of Leadership Across All Categories

The Athletics (Running) team delivered an outstanding season, demonstrating consistent competitiveness and readiness across every championship it contested. In cross-country events, the club secured second place in both the Junior and Youth categories, before advancing to claim first place at the UAE Cross-Country Cup in the Juniors and Senior Women’s divisions.

At the Vice President’s Cup for Athletics 2024–2025, the squad recorded one of its most notable achievements of the season, capturing four titles in a single edition across the Junior, Youth, U23, and Senior Women’s categories.

The momentum continued at the UAE Athletics Cup, with first-place finishes in the Junior and Senior Women’s divisions and a second-place result in Youth. The season concluded with further success at the UAE Nationals Cup, where the club claimed the Juniors and U23 titles—results that reflect both performance excellence and a strong pipeline of talent across age groups.

Muna Faisal Al Shara’: Progress Built Over a Season

Alongside the club’s athletics success, archer Muna Faisal Al Shara’ emerged as one of the most consistent young performers of the season, building momentum through steady results across local, international, and Arab competitions.

Her season began strongly with a gold medal at the UAE League activation stage, followed by a silver medal in the team competition at the 3rd International Open Championship. She continued to build on that form in the final stage of the UAE League, securing a bronze medal in the individual event, before adding another silver at the UAE Indoor Championship.

The defining moment of her season came at the 14th Arab Archery Championship in Tunisia, where she claimed two gold medals—individual and team—a result that highlighted both her competitive maturity and her ability to perform consistently on the Arab stage at a young age.

Mai Al Ameri: Results Reflect a Clear Development Path

Commenting on the achievement, Mai Al Ameri, Deputy Director of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, emphasized that the recognition reflects a broader development framework rather than isolated results.

“We are proud of this achievement because it reflects the level of daily commitment shown by our athletes and teams. Muna Faisal Al Shara’s award, alongside the recognition earned by our running squad, confirms that development at the club is a structured process, not a slogan.

What distinguishes this success is the clarity of direction, the trust placed in our athletes, and the discipline embedded within our training environment. When these elements align, they create teams capable not only of competing, but of progressing with confidence and consistency.

We deeply appreciate the continued support of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Women’s Sports and Wife of H. H. The Ruler of Sharjah. This support forms the foundation upon which our work is built, and it enables us to continue developing teams capable of representing Sharjah and the UAE with ambition and distinction.”

Reinforcing a Broader Development Vision

These achievements reflect the level of maturity reached by the club’s athletes and teams, and underline how sustained, well-structured work within the club’s ecosystem translates into consistent results. Beyond podium finishes, this progress reinforces a culture of continuity and long-term development across sports.

Sharjah Women’s Sports Club also recorded a strong presence across multiple award categories. Archer Amna Yousef Al Awadi and taekwondo athlete Amna Mohammed Al Loughani reached the final shortlist (Top Three) for Best Emirati Female Athlete. In addition, the club’s Basketball and Taekwondo teams qualified for the final stage of the Best Women’s Team category, while Souria Haddad, Technical Director of Judo, was shortlisted for Best Coach.

As the season continues, the club’s teams move forward with growing confidence, using this recognition as a platform to further strengthen women’s sport in Sharjah and support the long-term development of athletes capable of competing at regional and international levels.
