The final months of 2025 marked a defining phase for archery at Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, as the team’s packed competitive calendar and diverse participation reflected a clear upward trajectory—one that combined a strong league start, community and international exposure, and the steady expansion of age-group depth from juniors to senior athletes.
A Confident Season Kick-Off
Sharjah Women’s Sports Club opened the 2025–2026 UAE Archery League with an emphatic performance during the first round held in October at Sharjah Police Officers Club. From the opening stages, the athletes demonstrated advanced technical readiness and competitive composure.
In the women’s recurve category, Snehal Devikar claimed the gold medal, while Fatima Al Balushi secured bronze, reinforcing the stability and depth of the senior squad. In the under-18 recurve division, Samia Odeniva continued her strong form with a gold medal, followed closely by Mona Al Shar’a, who earned silver—highlighting healthy internal competition within the team.
Positive indicators also emerged in the under-21 compound category, where Sara Al Mazmi captured gold and Meitha Al Nuaimi claimed silver, reflecting the team’s growing technical options and competitive versatility.
Team events further underlined the Club’s cohesion, as Sharjah secured gold in the mixed recurve team competition and bronze in the under-18 team category—results that mirrored the squad’s collective discipline and consistency.
Expanding the Base Across Age Groups
Later in October, the spotlight shifted to the cadet and junior categories, where Sharjah’s investment in grassroots development continued to pay dividends.
In the cadet recurve competition, Shamma Al Kaabi earned gold, while Masa Al Duroos and Maha Al Shamsi secured silver and bronze respectively in the compound category. In the junior division, Salama Al Ali topped the recurve standings with gold, alongside a bronze medal for Ilma Sigri.
Team competitions echoed this success, with the junior recurve team capturing gold and the cadet compound team earning silver—further evidence of a deep and well-structured talent pipeline.
The event also featured a dedicated under-10 category, where Sheikha Abdullah Shalouh claimed silver, offering an early glimpse of a promising new generation taking confident first steps onto the competitive stage.
Community Sport… A Different Test
In mid-November, the team stepped beyond the formal league framework to compete in the 5th Kalba Beach Games, a large-scale community-driven event with international participation.
Despite the different competitive setting, Sharjah’s archers maintained their technical focus. Shamma Al Kaabi secured gold in the under-15 recurve category, while Salama Al Ali topped the under-12 division. Additional bronze medals followed across categories, as Amna Al Awadhi continued her impressive form in the women’s compound competition.
Sustained Excellence in Round Two
December marked the conclusion of the team’s domestic league commitments with the second round of the UAE Archery League, held once again at Sharjah Police Club—confirming that the strong start was no coincidence.
Mona Faisal Al Shar’a claimed gold in the under-18 recurve category, followed by Sheikha Al Ali in silver. In the women’s division, Snehal Devikar added another gold medal to her season tally, while Amna Al Awadhi continued her dominance in compound archery. The under-18 recurve team also secured a runner-up finish, reinforcing the Club’s consistency across individual and team events.
An International Benchmark
The season concluded with participation in the First Open International Archery Championship, hosted at Dubai Club for People of Determination in late December—providing a valuable international benchmark.
In the under-18 recurve category, Mona Al Shar’a earned gold and Sheikha Al Ali claimed silver. The women’s recurve competition saw Snehal Devikar take gold and Fatima Al Balushi silver. In compound events, Amna Al Awadhi once again stood atop the podium, joined by bronze medals for Marwa Salman and Rawda Al Awadhi.
Beyond Medals
Reflecting on the season, Zukhro Tajaeva, Archery Coach at Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, emphasized that the diversity of competitions provided the technical staff with a comprehensive platform to assess both technical and mental development.
She noted that the focus extends beyond podium finishes to building athletes defined by consistency, discipline, and the ability to adapt across varying competitive environments.
A Promising Path Forward
This period offers a complete snapshot of archery’s trajectory at Sharjah Women’s Sports Club—one that begins with grassroots development, advances through domestic competition, and confidently reaches international arenas. The achievements recorded are the result of cumulative effort, a clear technical vision, and long-term investment in athletes—laying solid foundations for even greater impact in the stages ahead.
