During the final quarter of the 2025 sports season, athletics across Sharjah and Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Clubs continued to record a strong and qualitative presence, reflecting the steady development of the technical system and the expansion of a competitive athlete base. This progress was evident both in local competitions and across official award platforms, within a trajectory that combines on-field results with institutional recognition.
Vice President’s Cup for Running… Sharjah Leads, Khorfakkan Delivers a Promising Debut
The Vice President’s Cup for Running was held in November 2025 at Al Hefaiyah Lake in Kalba, with the participation of five clubs: Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club, Abu Dhabi Athletics Club, Emirates Cultural and Sports Club, and Al Jazirah Al Hamra Cultural Sports Club. The competition featured strong races across the U12, Cadets, and Juniors categories, with standout technical performances from Sharjah and Khorfakkan athletes.
In the U12 category, SWSC athlete Alya Khaled Saeed secured second place individually, followed by her teammate Hamda Jassim in third. At the team level, Sharjah Women’s Sports Club claimed first place through a squad comprising Alya Khaled Saeed, Hamda Jassim, Fawaghi Humaid, and Mahra Jassim.
Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club achieved third place as a team through Mira Ibrahim Ahmed, Fatima Rashid Suleiman, Aseel Faisal Ali, and Nouf Ibrahim Ahmed, marking the team’s first competitive appearance in running championships.
In the Cadets category, SWSC continued its dominance, with Alya Khaled Al Mehairi taking first place individually and Sara Fahd finishing second. SWSC team also secured first place through Alya Khaled Al Mehairi, Sara Fahd, Mahra Al Khazraji, and Rawda Mohammed Al Jabri, while KHWSC placed second with Shaimaa Abu Talib, Nouf Badr, Shooq Ibrahim, and Al Hanouf Khamis.
In the Juniors category, SWSC athlete Asmita Janish claimed second place individually following a highly competitive race marked by close margins and strong performances.
UAE Cup for Running… Sustained Excellence and Competitive Readiness
Athletics teams from the SWS’ clubs maintained their competitive momentum at the UAE Cup for Running, held in December 2025 and hosted by Hatta Sports Club, with the participation of Sharjah, Khorfakkan, Abu Dhabi, and Emirates Cultural and Sports Club. The competition covered four age categories: U12, U14, U18, and Seniors.
In the U12 category, Alya Khaled Saeed secured second place individually for SWSC, while the club claimed first place in the team standings through Alya Khaled Saeed, Hamda Jassim, Fawaghi Humaid, and Mahra Jassim. KHWSC also recorded a notable presence by finishing third as a team with Mira Ibrahim Al Dhannahani, Fatima Rashid Al Marshidi, Nouf Ibrahim Al Dhannahani, and Hamda Manea Saeed.
In the U14 category, SWSC athlete Alya Khaled Al Mehairi placed second individually, before leading her team to first place overall through a collective performance alongside Sara Fahd, Mahra Al Khazraji, and Salama Al Khazraji.
In the U18 category, Asmita Janish once again confirmed her consistency by securing second place individually, reinforcing her stable technical level throughout the season.
At senior level, Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club achieved an important milestone as Kawthar Abdul Qayoum Shah won the bronze medal, reflecting the club’s growing presence in this category.
Awards Platform… Recognition of a Sustained Path
The annual UAE Athletics Federation ceremony, held at the Dubai Police Officers Club, further consolidated this trajectory, with Sharjah Women’s Sports Club receiving the General Excellence Shield for Women for the 2024–2025 season.
At the club performance awards level, Fatima Ali Hassan Abdullah Albloushi was named Best Performance Athlete in Sprints and Hurdles (Women), while Abeer Ibrahim Albloushi received the Best Performance Award in Jumps (Women). Alya Khaled Al Ali also stood out in the U18 category after winning Best Performance in Sprints and Hurdles.
Strong representation continued across younger age groups, as Samar Saleh Al Saadi won Best Performance in Jumps (U14), followed by Sara Fahd Abdullah, who claimed Best Performance in Sprints and Hurdles (U12 Girls). Samar Saleh Al Saadi further added Best Performance in Jumps (U12 Girls), confirming technical stability and continuous progression across age categories.
The ceremony also honored Sara Khalifa Obaid Al Suraim Al Naqbi of Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club, who won Best Performance in Jumps (U18), an achievement reflecting the advanced level reached by Khorfakkan athletes in the club’s first official season within the national athletics league.
In addition, the family of athlete Alyazia Tareq Abdul Salam received the “Best Sport Family” award, in recognition of their influential support and contribution to their daughter’s athletic journey.
National Representation Reflecting Depth of the Athlete Base
The ceremony also recognized several UAE national team athletes for their outstanding performances during the season, including a group of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club athletes who delivered strong contributions at national level: Sara Fahd Abdullah, Alyazia Tareq Abdul Salam, Rawda Mohammed Hassan Al Jabri, Samar Saleh Doha, Reem Mohammed Al Badwawi, Shahad Rashid Ibrahim Mubarak, Rima Mohammed Abdulrahim Fikri, and Alyazia Aref Mohammed Al Radwan.
Marking a Milestone… and Sustaining Ambition
This final quarter of the season presents a clear picture of the growing maturity of women’s athletics in Sharjah, where competitive results intersect with institutional recognition, and technical excellence aligns with administrative vision. With the rising presence of Sharjah and Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Clubs, the foundations of a system capable of producing sustained success and developing a new generation of athletes ready to represent the UAE with confidence at all levels continue to strengthen.
