As part of its vision to build an integrated sports ecosystem that prioritizes athletes’ health and performance quality, Sharjah Women’s Sports, represented by its Sports Medicine and Healthcare Center, organized an awareness initiative titled “Your Performance Starts with a Healthy Smile” on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in collaboration with the University Dental Hospital Sharjah.
The initiative underscored that oral and dental health is not merely a cosmetic concern, but a fundamental factor in supporting athletic performance, preventing injuries, and enhancing both physical and mental readiness—particularly among younger athletes.
The program targeted athletes from Sharjah Women’s Sports affiliated clubs in the Under-17 age category, reflecting the organization’s commitment to embedding health awareness at early stages and integrating preventive concepts into athletes’ daily sport environments. The initiative was delivered through a comprehensive program that combined educational content with practical application, aiming to establish sound and sustainable health practices among participants.
The event featured the participation of the University Dental Hospital Sharjah’s Mobile Dental Clinic team, comprising dentists, residents, and interns. The team provided on-site oral screenings, specialized consultations, and guidance on daily oral care routines, healthy dietary habits, and methods for preventing sports-related dental injuries.
In addition, the initiative included interactive activities designed to raise awareness of the impact of oral health on maintaining optimal athletic performance, while encouraging athletes to adopt regular dental checkups as part of their overall health and training routines. Oral care product samples, provided by supporting partners, were also distributed to reinforce positive health behaviors among participants.
This initiative forms part of the activation of the Memorandum of Understanding previously signed between Sharjah Women’s Sports and the University Dental Hospital Sharjah, which aims to strengthen oral and dental health services for athletes within a comprehensive healthcare framework.
Overall, the initiative reflects Sharjah Women’s Sports’ holistic approach to athlete development—one that extends beyond training and competition to encompass public health awareness and preventive care—contributing to improved readiness, greater confidence, and the long-term sustainability of athletic performance.
