Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club Takes Control in Semi Final First Leg with 3-1 Win Over American University in Dubai
Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club moved one step closer to the 2024/2025 Women’s Volleyball League final, securing a well-earned 3-1 victory over the American University in Dubai in the first leg of the semifinals, held at the Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club arena.
Khorfakkan Sets the Pace After a Tough Start
The American University in Dubai entered the match strongly, dominating the first set with a 25-22 win, gaining an early advantage. However, Khorfakkan’s players demonstrated great resilience, managing to regain their balance in the second set. With a fighting spirit, they clinched the set 26-24, turning the tide of the match.
Khorfakkan continued to dictate the tempo in the third set, leveraging crucial moments to win 25-22. They then exerted complete control in the fourth set, sealing the match with a comfortable 25-14 victory, earning a crucial win in the semifinals.
Coach Rahma Al Sanousi: Focus and Tactical Discipline Are Key
Following the match, head coach Rahma Al Sanousi praised the team’s performance, highlighting that the victory was a result of teamwork and adherence to the game plan: "The players delivered an exceptional performance, reflecting the hard work we’ve put into training sessions. They showed clear tactical discipline and significant improvement in the areas we focused on, especially defense and reception. The match was challenging, and the opponent played well, but we managed to impose our style of play through high focus, team spirit, and commitment to the tactical approach."
She added: "We secured the win through powerful serves, solid defensive organization, and quick offensive transitions. The high fighting spirit and calmness in critical moments allowed the team to control the game’s rhythm, helping us achieve this well-deserved victory."
Focus Shifts to the Second Leg to Secure Qualification
With this important win, Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club heads into the second leg with a strong advantage, yet remains fully aware that the mission is not over yet. The American University in Dubai will look to turn the tables in the return match, but Khorfakkan is preparing thoroughly to deliver another strong performance, aiming to secure a spot in the final and continue the quest for the Women’s Volleyball League title this season.
