SWS Clubs Shine at the Arab Taekwondo Cup
Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, Kalba Women’s Sports Club, and Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club concluded their participation in the 5th Arab Taekwondo Cup, held from February 5 to 7, 2025, with remarkable results that reflected the continuous development of their athletes. This outstanding performance was the result of ongoing training programs, tactical and technical preparations, and an intensive pre-tournament training camp that significantly enhanced their readiness, refined their skills, and instilled greater confidence ahead of the competition.
Impressive Performances in the Junior Division
The tournament witnessed exceptional performances from the SWS clubs’ athletes, particularly in the junior category. Yomna Yasser from Sharjah Women’s Sports Club claimed the gold medal in the 37kg category, while Salma Ahmed secured silver in the 59kg category. Rania Mohammed added a bronze medal in the 55kg category, while Haya Tamam also won bronze in the 44kg category.
From Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club, Dana Khamis earned a bronze medal in the 59kg category, further strengthening the club’s presence in the competition. Additionally, Maria Badr, representing the UAE national team, secured a bronze medal in the 37kg category, further highlighting the contributions of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club on the international stage.
Strong Performances in the Youth Division
In the youth category, Sheikha Al Tunaiji from Kalba Women’s Sports Club earned a bronze medal in the 42 kg category, while her teammate Amina Al Loghani, who competed under the UAE national team, secured a silver medal in the 68 kg category.
Technical Director’s Insights on the Achievements
Abdullah Hatem, Technical Director of Taekwondo at Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, praised the athletes’ remarkable achievements, stating: "What the athletes accomplished at the Arab Cup reflects the tremendous effort and commitment they have put in, both in terms of physical and tactical preparation. The recent international training camp played a pivotal role in sharpening their skills and improving their adaptability to different fighting styles, which was evident in their performances during this championship."
He further emphasized the high level of competition, adding: "This year’s tournament witnessed strong participation from various Arab Countries, with an exceptionally competitive atmosphere. It was clear that all teams entered the event at peak readiness, which significantly elevated the overall technical level of the competition. Such tournaments provide our athletes with the perfect platform to test their skills in a real competitive environment, offering invaluable experience that will benefit them in upcoming international events."

With the Arab Taekwondo Cup behind them, the athletes are now looking to capitalize on this success and maintain their strong performances in future competitions, further solidifying their presence on the international stage.
