SWS and The Emirates Society of Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Sign MoU to Advance Women’s Sports
In a strategic move to enhance women’s sports and sports medicine, Sharjah Women’s Sports (SWS) and The Emirates Society of Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at unifying efforts and sharing expertise to support female athletes. The collaboration seeks to elevate healthcare standards in women’s sports through specialized training programs and scientific research.
During an official signing ceremony, the agreement was signed by Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice Chairperson of SWS, and Dr. Abdulla Al Rahoomi, President of The Emirates Society of Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine. This partnership reflects a shared vision to develop a comprehensive sports ecosystem that enhances female athletes’ health and performance in line with international best practices.
Advancing Medical Education and Research in Sports
Dr. Abdulla Al Rahoomi emphasized that the agreement aligns with governmental directives to advance the sports sector. He highlighted that medical education is a core pillar of the collaboration, ensuring that sports professionals receive top-tier academic training in disciplines such as nutrition, sports medicine, and physiotherapy.
He also stressed the importance of joint initiatives to support sports physicians and rehabilitation specialists by integrating them into sports events, organizing specialized medical workshops, and hosting scientific conferences that contribute to sports medicine development and research consolidation.
Developing Women’s Sports through Science-Backed Strategies
Dr. Saida Ayachi, Director of the Sports Medicine And Healthcare Center at SWS, affirmed that the organization is dedicated to studying and advancing various aspects of women’s sports, with a specific focus on physiological, psychological, and biological factors. She emphasized that collaboration is key to making meaningful progress in this field.
She expressed appreciation for the Emirates Sports Medicine Society, highlighting their enthusiastic approach to this partnership. She noted that this MoU will translate into tangible results by supporting scientific research, organizing conferences, and hosting expert-led discussions, all of which will enhance the status of women’s sports in the UAE.
A Strategic Step Toward the Future of Sports Medicine
As part of the agreement, a dedicated scientific committee for women’s sports will be established within The Emirates Society of Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine. Additionally, SWS will take a leading role in the Emirates Sports Medicine Conference, managing the panel discussions focused on women’s sports.
The MoU takes immediate effect upon signing and will be in place for two years, with the option for renewal. This long-term collaboration will strengthen efforts to empower female athletes, ensuring they have access to world-class sports healthcare and medical innovation that enhances their safety, performance, and overall well-being.
