Successful Conclusion to the First Specialized Schools Meet with Over 600 Students at Sharjah Women’s Sports Olympic Center
On Thursday, April 24, 2025, SWS successfully held the first meet of its Specialized Schools Program at the Sharjah Women’s Sports Olympic Center, bringing together more than 600 students from the American School of Creative Science and the Emirates American School. This initiative stems from existing cooperation agreements between the Organisation and educational institutions in the emirate.
The event marked the first in a series of four annual gatherings aimed at boosting student participation in sports through a competitive and engaging environment—offering students dynamic physical challenges outside the conventional school sports framework.
The gathering included structured training sessions across seven disciplines: archery, fencing, judo, taekwondo, athletics, karate, and table tennis. It targeted students aged 7 to 12 with the goal of promoting sports as a lifestyle and raising awareness of the importance of integrating physical activity into daily routines for healthier, more sustainable living.
This gathering is part of the Organisation's broader strategy to activate its educational partnerships and translate initiatives into impactful, on-ground programs. It aligns with the Organisation's vision of promoting a sports culture, encouraging early specialization, and expanding the base of female athletes across the emirate, creating an effective institutional link between schools and the wider sports community.
It also reflects the Organisation’s commitment to early talent identification and developing future generations in a comprehensive athletic environment, supported by cutting-edge facilities at the Sharjah Women’s Sports Olympic Center, which is specifically designed to shape tomorrow’s champions.
Building a Sports Culture
These initiatives reinforce joint collaboration with community partners—such as schools, children’s centers, and girls’ centers—to ensure a unified approach to developing young female athletes.
Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice Chairperson of SWS, commented:
“We believe a strong sports community begins at school. These gatherings are pivotal milestones within our broader strategy to develop women’s sports in Sharjah. We aim to transform passion into structured development and clear excellence pathways. This first gathering reflects our deep commitment to activating educational partnerships and generating tangible results—from the classroom to the podium.”
Alyazia Al Suwaidi, Head of the Technical Planning and Monitoring Unit at SWS, added:
“This gathering demonstrates the progress we are making in bridging educational training with professional sports practice. Through these events, we track performance, foster engagement, and prepare students for the next stages in their athletic journey.”
