SWSC Claims The Excellence Shield for 2024–2025 Season
Dominant Season for SWS Clubs in Kata and Kumite Competitions
Sharjah Women’s Sports Club (SWSC) capped an outstanding season in karate by winning the coveted Overall Excellence Shield in the females' category for the 2024–2025 season, along with the award for Best Coaching Team — a testament to the Club’s leadership and prominent role in advancing women’s karate across the UAE.
The achievements of Q2 2025 marked a new milestone in this ongoing success story, as athletes from SWS Clubs — particularly SWSC and Al Dhaid Women’s Sports Club — delivered impressive individual and team performances across a series of national competitions in both kata and kumite disciplines. These results reflect SWS’ strategic vision to build a strong generation of female athletes who proudly represent the emirate and the UAE on regional and global stages.
A Season of Victories — Round by Round
The first competition was held on April 12 with the UAE Karate Federation Kumite Cup (Junior Individual), hosted at Sharjah Sports Club- Individual Games (Al Hazana). SWSC and Al Dhaid athletes delivered strong performances, securing a total of seven medals.
From SWSC, Hour Ahmed Al Ali captured gold, while Lojain Sameh earned silver, and Eman Kanaan took bronze. Al Dhaid athletes also shone, with Al Anoud Mohammed Al Zahmi winning silver, and Sondos Ibrahim, Nouran Ashraf, and Jana Khaled Al Sayed each securing bronze.
The success continued at the Kumite Cup (Youth and Women’s Categories) on April 19, where SWSC added five more medals — three silvers from Joud Mahmoud, Shatha Bilal, and Jumana Mohammed, and two bronzes from Lana Osama and Linda Samer.
On April 26, SWSC participated in the UAE Stars Cup for Kata and Kumite (Teams — Girls and Juniors), where the Club claimed double gold in the girls’ kata and kumite events and added a silver medal in the juniors’ kumite — showcasing exceptional team synergy and technical precision.
The momentum continued on May 3 at the UAE League for Kata (Team Event), where SWSC secured four medals — three silvers in the girls’, juniors’, and women’s categories, along with a bronze in the youth category. These results highlighted the Club’s growing strength in synchronized team performance.
In the UAE League for Kumite Teams (Girls and Youth), held on May 10, the youth team clinched gold, while the girls’ team earned silver — the result of outstanding teamwork and tactical execution against the country’s top clubs.
The 2024-2025 season concluded on May 17 at the UAE League for Kumite Teams (Juniors and Women’s categories), where the juniors team took gold and the women’s team added silver — securing both UAE League Shields in kata and kumite (Juniors) for SWSC this season.
Coaching Excellence and a Winning Mentality
Kumite coach Radwa Arafa expressed her pride in the team’s progress, highlighting significant improvements in tactical discipline and mental readiness throughout the season. “These back-to-back results confirm that our team is moving steadily toward even greater achievements,” she noted.
