Archery Leaders: SWSC Captures 62 Medals in Q2 2025
Sharjah Women’s Sports Club (SWSC) delivered another standout season in archery, collecting 62 medals across local and international competitions during Q2 2025. The club’s archers solidified SWSC’s position as one of the nation’s premier forces in women’s sports, with remarkable performances on both domestic and global stages.
International Brilliance at the 3rd International Open
The 3rd International Open, hosted by the Sharjah Police Officers Club in April with 19 participating countries, proved a defining milestone for SWSC. In mixed compound team events, Sarah Al Mazmi and Ahmed Musto claimed gold, while Amna Al Awadhi and Nasser Al Rashdi secured bronze. In under-18 mixed recurve, Nora Al Mazmi and Mansour Al Ketbi won gold, followed by Mona Faisal and Salem Al Ketbi in second, and Shahd Jawhar and Khalifa Al Ketbi in third. In mixed recurve (women-men), Hessa Al Awadhi and Sattam Al Mutairi earned silver, with Maha Al Hosani and Mujahid Adam taking bronze.
In the individual finals, Amna Al Awadhi clinched gold in women’s compound, while Sarah Al Mazmi added bronze in the same category. Samia Odineva secured gold in U18 recurve, while Maha Al Hosani dominated the women’s recurve category, with Rasha Yehia finishing second and Sniehal Devkar in third.
17-Medal Haul at UAE Archery League Finale
Momentum from the international circuit continued at home, as SWSC archers captured 17 medals at the UAE Archery League finale, also held at Sharjah Police Officers Club. In U12 recurve, Alya Al Sharaa took gold, followed by Elma Sergei (silver) and Salama Al Ali (bronze). In U12 compound, Salma Al Suwaidi won gold, with Alya Al Shamsi (silver) and Mouza Al Shamsi (bronze).
In U15 recurve, Samia Odineva earned silver, with Mona Al Sharaa claiming bronze, while Massa Al Doros added bronze in U15 compound. In U18 recurve, Nora Al Mazmi earned silver and Sara Al Baloushi bronze, while Sara Al Mazmi secured gold in U18 compound.
In the senior women’s events, Hessa Al Awadhi captured gold in recurve, followed by Sniehal Devkar (silver) and Maha Al Hosani (bronze). Amna Al Awadhi added gold in compound, with Rouda Al Awadhi taking bronze.
Exceptional Indoor Performance at UAE Archery Cup
SWSC also shone indoors at the UAE Archery Cup (Indoor), hosted at Al Madam Cultural & Sports Club, where the team secured 18 medals. In compound (junior), Mouza Al Shamsi took gold, followed by Alya Al Shamsi (silver) and Shamma Al Shamsi (bronze). In recurve (junior), Alya Al Sheraa earned gold, Elma Sergei silver, and Salama Al Ali bronze.
In recurve (youth), Samia Odineva won gold, followed by Mona Al Sheraa (silver) and Shahd Jawhar (bronze). In recurve (junior), Nora Al Mazmi took gold, with Marwa Omar Al Serkal (silver) and Widad Al Zarouni (bronze). In compound (junior), Sarah Al Mazmi added another gold to her season tally.
In senior women’s recurve, Sniehal Devkar captured gold, followed by Hessa Al Awadhi (silver) and Rasha Ahmed (bronze). In senior women’s compound, Amna Al Awadhi secured silver, with Rouda Al Awadhi taking bronze.
Strong Finish at UAE Archery Federation Cup
The 2024-2025 season concluded with another highlight — the UAE Archery Federation Cup at Maliha Cultural & Sports Club, where SWSC archers claimed 14 medals, including four golds. Samia Odineva won U15 recurve (junior) gold, setting a new national record of 572 points, while Maha Al Shamsi earned silver in the same category.
In U12 recurve (junior), Alya Faisal secured silver and Salama Al Ali bronze. In U12 compound (junior), Mouza Al Shamsi took gold, followed by Shamma Al Shamsi (silver) and Alya Issam Al Shamsi (bronze).
In U18 recurve, Widad Al Zarouni earned silver, with Marwa Al Serkal taking bronze. Amna Al Awadhi won gold in U21 compound, with Maitha Al Nuaimi claiming bronze.
In senior women’s recurve, Sniehal Devkar secured gold, followed by Fatima Al Baloushi (silver) and Hessa Al Awadhi (bronze).
A Vision for Continuous Excellence
Commenting on the team’s achievements, Elina Lapsina, SWSC Archery Team Technical Director, expressed pride in the athletes’ consistent progress:“Our team made a remarkable technical leap this season, setting new national records and delivering strong performances across all levels. Our work does not end with the local season — preparations are already underway for upcoming international competitions.”
With this exceptional season behind them, the SWSC archers have once again proven that the club’s solid foundation continues to produce champions who shine on both local and international stages — driving forward with an ambitious vision for an even brighter future.
