41 Medals and National Records Cement SWSC’s Leadership at the UAE Athletics Cup
Continuing their remarkable 2024–2025 athletics season, the athletes of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club delivered a standout performance at the UAE Athletics Cup, securing a total of 41 medals across three age categories. The club’s haul included 16 gold, 14 silver, and 11 bronze medals, reaffirming its position as one of the leading forces in advancing women’s sports in the UAE. This achievement came as a culmination of three days of high-level competition in the junior, youth, and senior categories.
Track Events: 20 Medals Showcasing Speed and Stamina
Among the standout results, Sara Fahd Abdullah captured gold in the 80m hurdles and silver in the 300m, while her teammate Rawda Al Jabri secured silver in the 80m. Chloe Reilly and Alya Khalid Saeed took second and third in the 80m sprint, respectively. In the 1000m event, Alya Al Muhairi raced to gold, followed by Hamda Jassim Ahli with silver. The 4×200m relay team—composed of Sara Fahd Abdullah, Alya Al Muhairi, Alya Khalid Saeed, and Chloe Reilly—clinched gold with confidence.
In the youth category, Reem Yousef took gold in the 100m hurdles, while Meera Al Khazraji earned bronze in the 400m, and Alya Khalid Al Ali secured silver in the 100m. The mixed relay team—featuring Reem, Alya, Meera, and Suad Al Jallaf—won bronze.
Among the seniors, Fatima Al Baloushi dominated the 100m sprint, winning gold ahead of teammate Abeer Al Baloushi, who took silver. Azari Adel secured gold in the 400m, with Mahra Enqilia earning bronze. The 4×100m relay team (Azari, Abeer, Mahra, and Fatima) powered to the top of the podium. Fatima capped off her participation by setting a new personal best and securing gold in the 200m, followed by Azari with silver—further underlining the team’s prowess in sprint and endurance races.
Field Events: 5 Medals Highlight Jumping Prowess and Record Heights
In the junior category, Reem Mohamed Al Budwawi claimed gold in the long jump, with Samar Saleh earning silver. Samar later clinched gold in the high jump, showcasing her versatility. In the pole vault, Shahad Rashid stunned the competition by setting a new national record with a height of 2.05 meters—a milestone reflecting the club’s strength in technical event preparation.
Youth athlete Suad Al Jallaf added silver in the long jump, demonstrating notable progress across the field events.
Throwing Events: 16 Medals and Record-Breaking Performances
Sharjah’s athletes excelled in the throwing disciplines. In the shot put (junior), Hanan Al Suwaidi struck gold and set a new national record with a throw of 10.72 meters, while Mitha Jumaa took bronze. Alyazia Tariq Al Mashghouni earned bronze in the hammer throw, continuing the club’s success in the event.
In the youth category, Aseel Osama took gold in shot put, followed by Mariam Murad with silver. Shaikha Fahd Al Mazmi earned bronze in the hammer throw. In discus, Hanan Ibrahim Al Suwaidi claimed gold and set a new national record—breaking the mark three times before finalizing at 25.19 meters. Mariam Issa followed with silver, while Mariam Murad and Fatima Al Suwaidi won silver and bronze respectively in the youth category.
In the javelin, Mitha Jumaa secured gold (junior), followed by Dana Yousef (silver) and Mitha Ahmad (bronze). Aseel Osama continued her stellar run with gold in the youth javelin, trailed by Alyazia Tariq (silver) and Shaikha Fahd (bronze).
Sharjah Women’s Sports Club concluded the competition by winning the UAE Cup in both the junior and senior categories, further establishing its leadership in the national women’s athletics landscape.
Coaching Team’s Strategic Role in Success
Hind Al Kabawi, Technical Director of Athletics, praised the athletes’ performances, highlighting the balance between physical, technical, and mental training. “This success is a product of continuous, focused work and reflects our strategic efforts to prepare a new generation of champions,” she said. “The technical level and execution were outstanding, and we’re proud to see our long-term development plans bearing fruit.”
Waleed Abdel Latif Saber, pole vault and jump coach, emphasized the competitive intensity of the event. “Most athletes achieved noticeable improvements in both times and distances. The introduction of the girls’ pole vault event was a milestone in itself, and the athletes’ promising results lay the foundation for future excellence in this discipline.”
A Fitting Conclusion to a Successful Season
The UAE Athletics Cup ended in celebratory fashion, once again confirming Sharjah Women’s Sports Club’s leadership in women’s sports and its continued mission to elevate the athletic capabilities of Emirati girls on both local and international stages.
