Sharjah Women Sports Celebrates World Kids Athletics Day
Inspiring Educational Partnerships and Dynamic Experiences Spark Movement and Excellence
In celebration of World Kids’ Athletics Day, an annual global initiative by World Athletics, Sharjah Women’s Sports organized an interactive event on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. The day welcomed a total of 159 children across three age groups, offering a blend of purposeful movement and playful learning within a safe and stimulating athletic environment.
Strategic Partnerships and Multidimensional Engagement
Held at the Sharjah Women’s Sports Olympic Center, the full-day event highlighted the Organization’s commitment to activating its strategic partnerships as part of its mission to nurture youth development through sport. The morning sessions featured two parallel activations tailored to specific age groups.
The first was designed for children aged 3 to 4, with 56 boys and girls participating through coordination with the Sharjah Education Academy and Al Badae Nursery. Activities were built around interactive play that matched their physical abilities.
The second session welcomed 49 girls aged 8 to 10 from the American School of Creative Science and the Emirates American School, both of which maintain active partnerships with the Organization for implementing structured sports programs. Participants engaged in fun, educational games introducing them to the basics of running, jumping, and throwing nurturing both physical and social skills in an encouraging setting.
In the evening session, the Organization hosted a third activation for girls aged 11 to 12 in collaboration with Sharjah Children under the umbrella of Rubu' Qarn Organization. The event reflected the Organization’s continued dedication to involving its strategic partners and expanding the social impact of its programming.
Building Athletic Awareness from an Early Age
Alyazia Al Suwaidi, Head of the Technical Planning and Monitoring Unit at SWS, shared her thoughts on the event:“Through this initiative, we aim to offer children transformative, developmental experiences rooted in cognitive-motor enrichment—experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and lay the first meaningful steps in a young athlete’s journey. It’s about fostering self-awareness and establishing sport as an integral part of a sustainable and holistic lifestyle.” She added:“We believe that establishing a positive relationship with physical activity at an early age is the cornerstone for raising confident, active youth. That’s why we’re committed to working hand in hand with our partners in the education and community sectors to broaden that impact.”
A Nurturing Environment for Lasting Beginnings
This event serves as an extension of Sharjah Women’s Sports’ broader mission to provide safe, engaging, and supportive environments that empower children’s physical and psychological development. It also reflects the Organization’s continued efforts to promote sports culture as a lifestyle and to encourage youth participation through interactive, age-appropriate programs that inspire passion and longevity in sport.
