SWSC Dominates the Podium in the Final Round of the UAE Modern Rowing Championship
In a powerful season finale, Sharjah Women’s Sports Club wrapped up its participation in the third round of the UAE Modern Rowing Championship with a remarkable performance. The event took place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, bringing together teams from Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and Super Sports Club, in what marked the closing competition of the 2024–2025 season.
The club’s athletes delivered a commanding performance across all categories, reaffirming their growing presence on the national stage. In the Women’s Single Sculls category, Bushra Ibrahim Qadri claimed first place, followed by Hamda Ibrahim Qadri in second, and Shamsa Sultan Al Sheryani in third. Bushra Qadri continued her winning streak by topping the U-19 Single Sculls as well, with Shamsa Sultan Al Sheryani securing silver and Fatima Khalaf Rabea clinching bronze.
The momentum carried into the doubles competition, where the duo of Bushra and Hamda Qadri earned the gold medal, while Fatima Khalaf Rabea and Shamsa Al Sheryani followed with silver — reflecting the team’s cohesion and technical balance. The race concluded with a decisive victory in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls, where the SWSC team sealed the event with a final gold.
Team coach Sarah Baya expressed her pride in the squad’s progress, stating:"We are extremely proud of what the athletes achieved this season, especially considering it’s our very first year in rowing. The team improved with every championship, and the athletes showed tremendous dedication and a strong competitive spirit. These results are the outcome of relentless training and the invaluable support we receive from the club and from Sharjah Women’s Sports. We promise to return next season with even more determination and ambition."
This outstanding performance marks a bright conclusion to the club’s inaugural season in rowing — a journey that exceeded expectations and left a lasting mark. It also reflects SWS’ commitment to developing water sports and empowering female participation within an environment that nurtures talent and champions excellence on both local and international stages.
