Specialized School: A Pathway Opening New Athletic Horizons for Girls 631 Students Embark on a Journey of Skill Discovery and Strategic Partnerships
As part of its strategic vision to expand female sports participation across Sharjah, SWS has launched its Specialized Schools Initiative—a pioneering program designed to promote specialized sports within the school environment and empower young girls with targeted training experiences from an early age.
During the second quarter of the year, the Organization organized two consecutive training workshops at the state-of-the-art Sharjah Women’s Sports Olympic Center, welcoming 631 students from the American School of Creative Science and the Emirates American School, as part of active cooperation agreements between these schools and Sharjah Women’s Sports.
The camps provided students aged 7 to 12 with an interactive, immersive experience across seven individual sports disciplines: archery, fencing, judo, taekwondo, karate, athletics, and table tennis. All sessions were delivered under the guidance of qualified coaches and a dedicated technical team.
Sports as a Partner in Character Building
What set these workshops apart was their holistic approach—more than just athletic training, they offered a well-rounded experience that combined skill development, challenge, and self-discovery in an environment that actively encourages personal growth. The training sessions were held within the Olympic Center’s world-class facilities, offering a safe, inspiring space for learning.
Sharjah Women’s Sports emphasizes that this initiative is an integral part of its broader philosophy that bridges education and sports, fostering a generation of well-rounded athletes who view sports as an essential complement to their academic and personal development.
Commenting on the camps, Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice Chairperson of Sharjah Women’s Sports, stated: "We believe that introducing specialized sports to girls at this age is a true investment in their future. Our goal is to cultivate a culture of participation and strengthen community engagement with women’s sports—from the classroom to the playing field."
Also underscoring the value of the initiative, Alyazia Al Suwaidi, Head of the Technical Planning and Monitoring Unit, noted that repeated workshops like these enable the Organization to monitor students’ progress and continuously refine the training programs accordingly.
Inspiring Experiences and Impactful Partnerships
The administration of the American School of Creative Science expressed appreciation for taking part in the workshops, highlighting the experience as both enriching and impactful in enhancing the school’s physical education program.
“Sharjah Women’s Sports provided our students with an exceptional opportunity to explore their abilities in a motivating environment,” the school noted.
“The program’s workshops and activities—led by a team of elite coaches—strengthened leadership and teamwork among students and had a clear positive effect on their confidence, mental wellness, and physical health.”
Meanwhile, the administration of the Emirates American School emphasized the significance of its collaboration with Sharjah Women’s Sports, stating:“This partnership enriched our students’ academic and athletic journey. It helped cultivate perseverance, determination, and leadership skills through the integration of meaningful new activities into our sports curriculum.”
The school added: “We look forward to expanding this collaboration to reach even more students, as it continues to play a vital role in refining their skills and encouraging athletic excellence.”
A Sustainable Model for Integration
This initiative stands as one of the Organization’s practical steps toward activating school partnerships and embedding its sports programs more deeply within the community. It reflects a strategic vision to foster a strong culture of specialized sports, expand participation among girls, and build a seamless ecosystem that connects educational institutions with Sharjah’s growing sports community.
