As Sharjah looks ahead to hosting the 8th edition of the Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST) from February 2 to 12, 2026 — held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Organization and wife of the Ruler of Sharjah — the event, which takes place under the umbrella of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees and with the endorsement of the League of Arab States, has entered a decisive stage of preparations during the third quarter of 2025.

Throughout this period, a series of executive committee meetings—started earlier this year—has set the pace for planning, coordination, and execution. These efforts were complemented by the inaugural meeting of the Supreme Organizing Committee, held on September 18, 2025, at the Sharjah Women’s Olympic Center. The session reviewed the latest organizational updates, distributed responsibilities among committees, and addressed logistical, medical, and security measures, alongside promotional initiatives and community-focused side events, all designed to deliver a world-class edition worthy of Sharjah’s standing.

Speaking on the ongoing preparations, Her Excellency Mouza Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah Women’s Sports and Tournament Director of AWST, emphasized the organization’s commitment to early planning and unified coordination, stating:“Our goal is to ensure that every detail—organizational, logistical, and technical—reflects the spirit and standards of the Arab Women Sports Tournament.
