In a move that reflects its ambitious vision to elevate women’s sports and strengthen its institutional framework, Sharjah Women’s Sports has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Ibn Al-Jazzar Faculty of Medicine Laboratory of Research on Cardio-Pulmonary System Interactions in Sousse, Tunisia.
This agreement marks a continuation of the SWS’ ongoing efforts to explore new frontiers in sports sciences and sports medicine, contributing to enhanced athletic performance and empowering Emirati women to compete at elite levels.
The agreement underscores a shared commitment to global knowledge exchange, with the aim of fostering collaboration between the Sports Medicine and Healthcare Center under SWS and the The Laboratory of Research on Cardio-Pulmonary System Interactions at Ibn Al-Jazzar Medicine Faculty. It paves the way for a modern, integrated environment aligned with international best practices—focused on building robust data systems and developing joint training programs that support the growth of emerging talent.
The memorandum outlines cooperation in several key areas, including scientific research on sports cardiology, co-hosting specialized academic conferences, and enhancing the exchange of medical and academic expertise. It also opens opportunities to harness artificial intelligence for monitoring athletes’ vital signs, enabling advanced diagnostics that focus on injury prevention and performance optimization.
Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice Chairperson of SWS, emphasized that the partnership reflects the Organization's commitment to a holistic strategy that places athletes’ health and well-being at the core of its priorities. She stated that the agreement will contribute to building a comprehensive sports ecosystem that meets current demands while keeping pace with future aspirations. Al Mahmoud also noted that investment in scientific research is a fundamental pillar for empowering Emirati women and shaping generations capable of competing with excellence on international stages.
This partnership goes beyond academic collaboration; it charts a new course for Sharjah Women’s Sports toward scientific and athletic leadership, reaffirming its status as an integrated platform that unites training, research, and healthcare. It is a milestone that enhances the Organizations ability to cultivate a generation of women athletes who are scientifically equipped, physically prepared, and ready to excel at the highest levels.
