Sharjah Women’s Sports Club Crowned Federation Cup Champion After a Dominant Kumite Performance
Sharjah Women’s Sports Club (SWSC) secured a remarkable achievement at the Federation Cup – Individual Kumite Championship, held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Sharjah Individual Sports Club – Al Hazana. The club demonstrated its technical superiority and tactical dominance, clinching five gold medals, five silvers, and six bronzes, securing both the Girls’ Federation Cup title and the Under-21 Federation Cup title.
Outstanding Performances Amid Fierce Competition
The tournament brought together seven of the strongest clubs in the country, including Shabab Al Ahli Club, Dubai Police, Torossian Sports Academy, Ajyal Sports Academy, Al Dhaid Women’s Sports Club, and the Egyptian Club in Al Ain, alongside Sharjah Women’s Sports Club. Amidst intense competition, SWSC’s athletes showcased exceptional skill and relentless fighting spirit, dominating most of their bouts and delivering a standout performance.
Impressive Showing in the Girls’ Category
In the 28-35 kg category, Shahd Mahmoud delivered a strong performance, securing the silver medal after a thrilling bout against an opponent from Shabab Al Ahli Club. In the Under-43kg and Over-43 kg categories, Lujain Mohammed added a bronze medal to the club’s tally, while Maryam Abdullah fought fiercely to claim silver in her category.
In the Girls’ A division, Salma Saeed clinched the gold medal, delivering a commanding performance in two decisive matches. Noor Ahmed secured silver, while Maryam Ahmed and Sama Galal added two bronze medals after intense bouts, further strengthening the club’s medal count.
In the Girls’ B division (42kg), Milia bint Hatem showcased her determination, winning the silver medal after two competitive bouts against Shabab Al Ahli Club. Meanwhile, Esraa bint Hatem secured a bronze medal in the same category. In the Under-47 kg to 52kg division, Shema Mohammed put on a dominant display, securing gold after two impressive wins against athletes from Al Dhaid Women’s Sports Club and Dubai Police.
In the Girls’ B (Under-47/52 kg) category, Noor Akram displayed outstanding technique to claim the gold medal after defeating an opponent from Dubai Police. Rawan Mohammed also put in a commendable performance, earning bronze in the same weight class. In the Over-52 kg category, Mouza Salem fought hard to secure a bronze medal after a challenging bout against a Dubai Police athlete.
Dominance in the Under-21 Category
The club’s success extended beyond the youth categories to the Under-21 division, where Jouri Osama delivered a stellar performance in the Under-50/55 kg category, securing gold after an impressive victory against an opponent from Torossian Sports Academy. In the 61kg division, Jomana Mohammed faced two tough matches, securing a silver medal after defeating an athlete from Torossian Sports Academy and narrowly losing to her teammate from SWSC in the final. Meanwhile, Linda Samer claimed gold after two outstanding performances, further asserting the club’s dominance in the championship.
Coach’s Statement: A Testament to Dedication and Progress
Head coach Radwa Arafa expressed her pride in the team’s performance, stating: "This tournament featured highly competitive bouts, but our athletes proved their worth through discipline and tactical precision. Today's achievements are the result of relentless hard work in training and mark a significant step forward in our journey toward more championships."
She further emphasized the crucial role of the club and organizational support, adding: "The continuous support from the club’s management and the organization has been instrumental in these accomplishments. Additionally, our coaching and administrative teams have worked hard to ensure the best possible preparation for our athletes. We are determined to sustain this momentum and achieve even greater success in upcoming competitions."
